There’s a misconception out there that “natural” equates to conceiving with sex (and only sex) and giving birth vaginally. That’s false. There are SO many ways to have a child – and I would argue that it’s all “natural”.
MY “Natural” BOYS
My firstborn exists because of IVF and advances in assisted reproduced technology (ART).
My second exists because of IVF, surrogacy, and genetic testing.
My third exists because of scientific help to KEEP someone pregnant.
All three of my children entered this world in their own, unique ways. And I would not have a single child if I couldn’t lean on science and medicine.
Science is natural.
Medicine is natural.
And if you disagree, then you’re wrong.
You Are Wrong – Natural is More Than You Think.
Okay – so that sounds harsh. But seriously – you’re wrong. You are wrong. I’m sorry to be the one to burst your bubble, but it’s true. Well, let’s be honest. If you truly disagree with science and ART and IVF, you’ve probably already stopped reading.
Are you one of those lucky ones that gets pregnant easily, has a simple pregnancy, and a relatively easy birth?
If so – that’s wonderful. But that does not give you the right to hate on those who need extra help.
My babies deserve to exist. Let me repeat that. MY BABIES DESERVE TO EXIST.
Don’t tell me I should have adopted. Don’t tell me it wasn’t my time. Don’t tell me it wasn’t meant to be. Just stop.
I love my boys more than life itself. No one should have to endure what I did (or many others) to have kids.
So stop saying these things to people.
I was meant to have children. I am not greedy for wanting biological children. Surrogacy IS natural and beautiful. I have every right to need support as a mother. And I did need postpartum support – mentally and physically. Also, I deserve a break as much as any other mom.
Who’s with me?
